I saw a contest for flip flop makeovers here and decided had to give it a shot. Now I don’t usually wear flip flops but I did live in sandals this summer.
I decided to use two things I have been collecting on my flip flops. Old game pieces and leather jackets.
A favorite summer saying seems to be “fun in the sun” so what a perfect theme to bring to a pair of flip flops.
I cut out two red suede scalloped circles, two red polyester scalloped circles (jacket lining) and four ivory leather scalloped squares with my Big Shot.
I singed the edge of all of the red pieces and two of the ivory pieces. This gave a little more dimension to the pieces. I used fabric glue to attach them together. The lining piece I sort of scrunched up to make it look like a flower of sorts.
I was able to spell out “Fun in the Sun” with some old Scrabble Crossword Cube Game pieces. I picked up the game this summer for a steal….. 50 cents! Wow, I loved the game cubes and knew when I saw them I would find a great use for them!
I taped the game pieces on the red suede circle around the flower center.
I think the game cubes, suede and leather make a perfect addition to a pair of flip flops. What a conversation piece. I think I would be ok bringing attention to my feet when I’m wearing these as they cover up a lot of my foot.
What do you think? Could I become a flip flop person??
