Last week I saw this purse at La Maison Reid and knew I had to make one.
Inspiration: My take:
Remember this floral bedspread I showed here?
I knew I wanted to make it into a bag of some sort and when I saw the burlap one I got out my sewing machine and started cutting.
Here is what I ended up with.
I followed the general directions from my inspiration bag but made a few changes.
First, I didn't measure, I just cut a rectangle for the body of the bag.
Second, I gathered the top of instead of pleating it.
Third, I used a magnetic snap closure.
Forth, I attached my lining differently.
I sewed the lining to the bag right sides together,
leaving a small section open to turn the bag right side out.
I loved the final result.
It might be a bit too bright to use as fall is in the air here.
I think I can still get a few uses this year before retiring it until next spring.
I think I'll be finding some fall fabric to make a similar one that I can use this fall and winter.
While I was sewing this past weekend I also made a clutch type bag that I plan to use to put my
blow dryer and curling iron while traveling.
I think it will be nice to have a separate bag to put them in before I put them in my suitcase.
For this bag too I just cut can sewed, I didn't have a pattern to follow but I like the results.
I put some Velcro closures on top to keep the cords inside.
I have lots of fabric left so I'm sure there will be some more floral crafts coming.
I think this would make a fun laptop carrier.
