A happy accident

It all started with scalloped potatoes.  I know this is probably the first and only time you will hear that sentence.

Ok those are not scalloped potatoes but they are the reason I now have a new favorite cookie – Lemon White Chip Cookies recipe I found at The Sweet Spot. Oh my lemony goodness, I think I love this cookie.

I think these might even be a cookie that will remain soft.  Then again, I don’t think they will be around long enough to get hard.

Ok, but back to the scalloped potatoes, I made this this morning and put them in a crock pot so they would be ready when I got home from work.  When I got home from work I realized that I left out the butter so I decided to use the softened butter to make some cookies.  I decided I should try the lemon cookies I had just seen at The Sweet Spot.

Definitely a recipe I’ll be making again.  I had to make an adjustment because I only had a few mini white chocolate chips so I mixed mini chips and some large white chocolate candy melts that I chopped into smaller pieces.

I still had some softened butter so I decided to make some chocolate mint cookies with the bag of Nestle Dark Chocolate & Mint chips.  Oh, my I must remember to buy more of those chips if they are out at Christmas time again this year.

Light, lemony goodness or dark, chocolate minty goodness?

Good think I don’t have to decide, I'll have a few of both thank you very much.

And to think it all started with scalloped potatoes.

Cards from the bakery supply isle

One day I saw a package of paper lace doily that was meant for decoration around cake boards.  It reminded me of some of the lace boarder dies that I’ve been eyeing every time I’m in a craft store.  I haven’t bought any lacy dies yet so I thought the paper lace doily would make an inexpensive lace border on some cards.

I saw a card with a lace boarder I liked and used it as inspiration to make this thanks card.

100_9516

I loved the simple, clean lines of the card so I made a few with different flowers that I had on hand.

100_9519

I changed the color of the ink I used to coordinate with the flowers.

100_9513  100_9515   The package I bought was about $2 and it had 3 – 40” strips of paper lace.  One pack was enough to make 18 cards.  Not bad for a quick and simple way to add a lacy accent to cards.

Next time you find yourself in the cake decoration isle take a look and see if there is something you can use that doesn’t require making a cake, unless of course you are craving a cake while you craft…..

Sympathy cards

One card I’ve always seemed to struggle making is sympathy cards so when I find a card design I like I usually tend to make a few to have on hand.

I was drawn to the simple clean lines of my inspiration card and made this.  100_9509

I cut the colored cardstock so I’d be able to make multiple cards with slightly different color background.

100_9510

I only cut a few leaf diecuts so when I ran out I added a flower to the card.

I did make one thinking of you card with the same design concept.100_9512 I know color blocking in clothes is suppose to be a big trend this spring, maybe I’ll make it a trend in my cards this spring.

Sneak peaks

I’ve finally had a bit of time to do some crafting and take a few pictures.  Nothing dramatic to show yet but a few quick pictures to let you know that I’m still here and trying to post a bit more regularly.  Not as regularly as I might be posting had I won the big jackpot last weekend with my sisters but we tried.  No big jackpot moneywise but it was a jackpot of a weekend spent crafting with my sisters.

mega millions

This week I started working on a dollar store craft with a couple fun finds.

Nothing finished yet as I had a bit of an ‘incident’ with a can of spray paint.  I’m just saying there is glitter in places that there shouldn’t be.

For another sneak peak, today I did a little work here….

Inside my sisters cute, bright greenhouse.

We started with some thrifted frames that my BIL built boxes for and made into planters.

Here is mine ‘in progress’.

living frame1 Here it is a bit fuller but I’m not sure that it is finished just yet.

While I worked on my large frame and putting a few pots back together my sister completed three frames.  Hopefully I’ll have some more pictures to post soon with the completed frames.
