Game time

I miss summer.

The snow is slowly melting.

Too slowly.

But that is what I get living in Minnesota.

Cold, colder, not quite as cold and an all too brief summer.

Right now I’m missing summer for it's garage sales and thrifting.  I was reminded about all the deals of summer when I ‘found’ some of them still riding around in the trunk of my car.  Boy, does that tell a lot about me.  I’m driving around my summer thrifting finds all summer, fall and winter!  I guess I don’t use my trunk too often that I didn’t have to move it or thought to bring the bag inside.  Or it was just too dang cold and dark out when I thought of it that I decided to dash for the apartment door instead of searching around in my cars trunk.

What did I find?

Would you believe it was the Mona Lisa?

Ok, maybe not the Mona Lisa but I’ve been driving Mona Lisa around for months.  I mean look at the details of this frame.  I don’t think you could have passed her up either.

Ok, I’m getting off course here.  Mona is not the point of this post but Mona was busy playing checkers for the past 6 months.

See, these checkers were also in the bag with Mona.

Why checkers?  Because I also have a couple empty candle jars like this.

So I filled up the jar with the wood dominoes.

It was a bit plain so I found some linen thread and a ruler sticker and ended up with this.

Looks great and it was quick and simple.

Just the way I need my crafts some days.

I kept the box and put it behind the jar for now but I think I’ll move it and display it somewhere else.

Maybe by the Mona Lisa frame when I decide how to display it.

In the meantime, I’m ready for a game of checkers if Mona…..

or more likely, someone else wants to play a game.

  1. Love the linen thread on the jar with the vintage wooden dominoes, very fresh even tho it looks antique. And I LOVE the Mona Lisa frame, perfect to paint a fresh color and put a neat chalkboard in the middle. Kudos!
