$3 Thursday -PB Inspired Book Bundle - Stamped with Love

I love the stacked book bundle that PB is selling but seriously $39 for 4 "authentic vintage books"??   Who are they kidding?
Four books and a piece of twine for $39?
You can check ‘theirs’ out here.
And mine below.
I only used three books but I like them a lot better than the $39 version. :)
100_5531
I started with a few old encyclopedias, tore the covers off and decorated them.

A few crepe paper rolled flower, some stamps and a ribbon.
100_5533
I stamped on the binding as well as the top book.
100_5532
I tried the make the rolled crepe paper flowers are thick as I could.  These are almost an inch high.
100_5534
I think the love book bundle looks perfect on my Valentine display.
   100_5530
Anyone willing to pay me $39 for a stack of ‘Hand Stamped and Decorated Authentic Vintage Book Bundle’?
Heck, I’ll even throw in free shipping.
100_5532
Anyone, anyone?  Ask nice and I might even give you a discount….

Total cost:  $0
I had all the supplies on hand, most for years except the crepe paper that I purchased after Christmas for pennies a roll.  I used only a fraction of the roll, probably not even a cents worth.

Heart tree and Jar of Valentine balls

I decided to redo my hallway display and change it from Christmas to Valentine items.

 100_5536
I liked the jar of Ho Ho Ho balls I made before Christmas and had picked up two more package so the ornaments before Christmas.  I wish I would have bought a few more packages.  I hoped to get them after Christmas on sale but when I went to see if they had them the dollar store was just about out of Christmas items.  Shoot, I waited too long.  Hopefullly I will find some other small inexpensive balls so I can change out the jar after Valentine’s day.
I gathered a few heart themed stamps and some red paint.
 100_5538
I decorated the jar with a kiss I cut out of vinyl.
100_5537
I’m not sure what I like more, the cursive love stamp, the X and O stamp,
100_5540
or the tic tac toe board.
    100_5542
I decided the tree needed a little color so I added a few heart stickers I had on hand.
 100_5543
I attached a few of the sticker onto small hang tags to hang on the tree but just stuck a few of them right on the tree.
100_5544
So far they are sticking and haven’t fallen off.
 100_5545
Not bad for a 79 cent tree, ornaments from the dollar store and some paint, stamps and stickers I had on hand.

Sneak peek of Emma

I had so much fun making a composition purse that I decided to make another one.

This one wasn’t as easy to make.

I’m still working on Emma.

Yep, I’m naming my next purse Emma.

Well, Emma is the name of the paper pack from TAC that I’m using to make her.

I had hoped to have Emma done today but that was not meant to be.

Here are some of the papers I’m using.

100_5494

I ran into a bit of a problem.

Let’s just say it wasn’t all happiness.

100_5502

Look at all that curling.  Not what I wanted for these tags.

100_5503

Lesson learned, Crackling Accents is not meant for small tags.

Emma does have some pretties, but still not complete.

100_5498

Stay tuned for a completed purse.

Hopefully sometime tomorrow.

Thanks for stopping by.

My new purse

Don’t you just love gathering ideas?

It’s even better when you finally act upon them and they turn out better than expected.

A while ago I saw this notebook purse and stored the idea in my mobile idea box(my mind, sometime never to be retrieved and acted upon).

It turns out it was inspired by the notebook purse this post.

I have lots of composition notebooks and finally found a use for a single purse handle I bought and have been hoarding securely storing for the past couple years.

What do you think of my new purse?

100_5481

Can you believe it started out as one of these??

 100_5490

Yep, an ordinary composition notebook.

The kind you can get for about 50 cents at back to school time.  I think I paid 12 cents for it on clearance last year after school started.

I covered it with paper.

100_5487

I just love the little line of detail on this paper.

100_5488

Inside back cover I used four strips of paper.

I love how I got the pattern to match up.

100_5480

No side is the same.  I love that about it.

The paper is Love Letter from Stampin’ UP!

I knew I wanted it when I saw it.

Isn’t it pretty?

I love the red, cream and black all together.

I think I’ll be making Valentine cards soon.

I wasn’t sure what to put in the little label holder, maybe ‘notes’ or the name of the person this is going to?

100_5478

A single handle was perfect.

Hello handle, so glad we met.

100_5482

I attached ribbon to the back of the purse, ran it through a ribbon charm and used a Velcro tab to close the purse.

100_5477

100_5485

The inside has three dividers.

  100_5479

All ready for a night on the town.

100_5484

A few days ago one of my sisters asked me if I got a new purse when we were having lunch.  I guess now I can say, yes I have a new purse.  Well I could if I didn’t plan on giving this one away.

Maybe I should make another one for me?

I’ve got another notebook in my hoard, oh I mean my creative supply.

$3 Thursday Crepe Paper Rose Wreath

Oops, it’s Friday.

What happened to Thursday?

Oh well, better late than never.

I made this wreath last week and arranged a display for it yesterday.

100_5465

I wanted a new wreath and since I didn’t have a Valentine wreath I decided to make one.

I guess this really could be used for more than just Valentines day since it isn’t a heart or screaming Valentine.

I started with a wreath from the dollar store, $1.

An after Christmas clearance package of red crepe paper, $0.15

and about a third of a yard of the black and white fabric I bought for $1.29 a yard.

 100_5466

I made about 20 rolled paper flowers from the crepe paper in various sizes.

I wasn’t very concerned about the shapes and sizes.

Each flower is made from about a yard of crepe paper.

Some are bigger and flat, others are smaller and thicker.

They all worked for me.

I know most people use a circle base and lots of hot or fabric glue when they make rolled flowers.

I however rolled my flowers until there was about 2” of paper left then attached some red liner or Wonder tape.  I covered the tape with the end of the crepe paper.

I know some of you are probably cringing that I used red liner tape but I’ve come to realized I bought the tape to make crafting easier so I’m going to use it to make crafting easier.  No burnt finger and long hot glue strings.

 100_5467

I tore strips of fabric about 2” wide and wrapped them around the wreath base.

With my first piece I tied knot to keep a loop of fabric to hang my wreath if I want.

I just wrapped one strip around the other so no glue or adhesive needed.

I finished off by tying the end of the last piece on the loop of the first piece.

Easy peasy.

And it will be a cinch to change the fabric if I want to update or reuse the wreath base.

100_5468

I laid out the flowers until I was happy and then broke out the red liner tape once again.

A little tape on the back of the flower and stick them to the fabric covered wreath.

Quick and easy, and less than $3.

I think it might just be love at first sight.

100_5469

The wreath helped me make a Valentine display in the corner where my Christmas trees were displayed.  I just couldn’t put the spun glass looking trees away yet and I love the display.

I just lost 20#…. of craft supplies

These supplies are on their way to new homes.

100_5463

I know I have too many craft supplies and I’m trying to pair down my supplies.

A couple months ago I set aside some crafty supplies and took them to a garage sale with my sister.  I sold a few things but at the time wasn’t ready to part with it all.

I changed my mind, well mostly.

I did pull a few things out of the box and put them back into my supply but I was on an organizing high after cleaning out my pantry.

I decided to part with a bunch of craft supplies as well.

I posted a few items on freecycle and had offers for my stuff almost immediately.

I divided the stickers and other stamping/scrapbooking supplies to give to the first four people who replied.  I felt liberated to pass on my stuff to others in need.  I posted that I wanted to give the supplies to homeschoolers or service programs so the supplies would reach a wide number of people.  I was able to give to home schools, after school programs and a children’s home.

It feels good.

I didn’t think to take a picture or weight the first two bags I gave away but here is my last two donation bags.

The first two were probably not quite as large but still a fair amount.

It feels good to be a good 20# lighter, even if it is 20# of craft supplies.

I won’t miss it.

Goodbye craft supplies.

‘Lovey’ cards

 100_5457

I’m not sure why I would make more cards since I’m trying to downsize the amount of cards by hosting a giveaway here, but I did.

I made more cards.

Twenty-two on Sunday and eight last night.

Well, at at least I was able to use some of my many paper crafting supplies.

I used card bases that I’ve had for years, used lots of packages of stickers and even used some skeleton leaves that I think I’ve had for almost ten years!

I guess I had love on my mind after decorating heart cookies yesterday.

Here are the eight I made last night.

They are all fairly simple, well maybe just simple to me since I have so much to pick from.

Maybe I should say these cards to years to make.

Yep, that’s it.

It took me years to collect all the supplies to make these cards.

100_5452

Sorry the pictures aren’t the best, its overcast here today but I wanted to share these with you.

100_5453

These KISS stickers are a recent purchase from Target.

$1 in the scrapbooking isle.

Probably a bit more that I would usually spend on items for a card but I realized there is no reason to not use it.  I can always buy another package if I want to make something else with them.

100_5456

Since my cards were 4 1/2 x 6 I used 12 X 12 cardstock for the base and had a 3 inch strip left so I made 3” x 6” card with a layer of glittered red cardstock, some fabric labels just stapled on and the love postage look stamp.

100_5454

100_5455

I love pink and brown together and when I found this brown tag it was easy to put together this card.

100_5458

I crumpled a journaling sheet, inked it and wrapped some floss around it.

100_5462

These skeleton leaves have probably been in my stash for 10 years.

I still have a few more that I hope to use up soon.

100_5460

I think this is a great trio of cards from one sheet of cardstock, ink, one package of stickers, a couple journaling sheets, some patterned paper and a few skeleton leaves.

    100_5457

I love the detail on the heart stickers.  The bottom heart is just slid in the envelope, it can be removed if you want.

 100_5461

I hope you liked my most recent cards.
