Happy Birthday 2U

I finally have something creative to show.  I made a few cards with some of the supplies I got in a $5 surprise bag of supplies.  The bag came with card bases, scrap papers, ribbons and some chipboard pieces.

I searched my stash for a piece of patterned paper to match the chipboard pieces and the card bases.  Then I pulled out a few birthday stamps, some ivory and white scraps and a few flowers and rhinestone brads to use as accents to create these 8 cards.

The ribbon was from the kit.

This one was clean an simple, with no patterned paper.

I inked a pieces of white cardstock light blue to match the patterned paper.

000_0008  Not bad, I made 8 cards from a $5 kit and I still have these supplies for other creations.

Now if only my creative juices will keep flowing……

Birthday cards

I always seem to need a few more birthday cards so I dug deep into my stash and made a few cards with some stamps that haven’t been used for a while.

I did some more coloring with chalk pencils on these pigs.

The inside of the above card has the ‘Someone squealed, it’s your birthday’ stamp.  I bought that stamp to go with this pig set.  I just couldn’t resist it when I saw it.

I wanted to make a few more kid friendly cards and recently thought of using some game cards on them.

A small vellum envelope holds the cards perfectly.

I included a variety of game and activity cards.

The cards are from these pocket games.

I know I’ve had them for many years.  I remember buying them with the thought of taking them with on car trips with my daughter.  I guess that never happened.  The store that I bought them at has been gone for many years too.

I was about to donate them when I thought that they would make a funny addition to  an adults get well card.  I think I might still make a get well card with them but I loved the child’s birthday card idea too.

So if you see some game cards think outside the box they came in and make a card or two and share the fun….. :)

Winters cruel joke…. and a few cards

The calendar may say spring for about a month now but it doesn’t mean that winter is over.  I can’t believe this was what I woke up to this morning, snow.

I know it can snow in April but still it hurts.  You see, originally I heard a forecast of a couple inches of snow then yesterday it seemed to change and the evening news forecast seemed to say we wouldn’t get any snow it would mainly be south of where I live.  So, needless to say I was surprised to see 3” of snow on the ground.

At least it is melting and should be mostly gone today.

Snow means inside crafts so here is a few of my latest card creations.

These were fairly quick and easy with a couple sheets of cardstock and a sheet of patterned paper.  I used some punches, ribbon and a few rhinestones.100_7133

I hope spring really has sprung in your area….

Late night birthday card

Ok, seriously, who forgets that they don't have a birthday card for their daughter until 10pm the night before??? Well, I guess that would be me.... As I put out a gift so Kira can have a present first thing in the morning it dawns on me that I don't have a birthday card. Well, I have lots of birthday cards made but nothing made special for Kira so here is my late night creation.

I used a TAC set that I just got this week. I ended up using every stamp in the set, I can't remember that last time I used all the stamps of a set on one card. I attached a small pencil to complete the birthday crossword. I wrapped it in ribbon and attached it to the card by running the ribbon throught a eyelet in the corner of the card. I wrapped the pencil in ribbon to hid the printing on the side of it. See Jennifer I'm still using the pencils you gave me. :)

I made a pocket of sorts on the front of the card to store the list of words to find. Inside the card I attached a covered coin envelope that I put the answer key in. I don't think Kira will need the key but I thought I should include it. I took a picture but I didn't realize it was so blurry until I went to upload it and I had already put the card in an envelope and sealed it. Lesson learned, check the pictures closer before you package the card.
Happy 13th birthday Kira! I love you.
