I sometime have strayed from tradition, sometimes embracing it whole heartedly.
My tree every year seems to be a work in progress.
Growing up our tree had various ornaments, handmade, purchased and never what I would call a theme.
I usually have tried to have more of theme or at least a color scheme that I follow.
Last year my main tree was red, white and blue. It wasn’t really a nod at being patriotic, it was just the way it seemed to work out. I had blue lights, lots of red ornaments and white and clear snowflakes.
After Christmas last year I bought a bunch of silver ornaments and planned on having a blue and silver tree this year.
Here was a picture I took earlier this week as it was in progress of being decorated.

Lots of snowflakes and silver ornaments. The white snowflakes I’ve had for years. I think I originally bought them at a garage sale.
I had some clear bulbs.
I’m not sure if I like the empty bulbs or the music filled ones better. I’m not sure if I like the empty bulbs or the music filled ones better.
My smaller tree has a mixture of ornaments, sort of like the tree of my youth.
Here is a picket fence Santa that I made with my sisters a few years ago.

An angel passed down to me from my Mom. It was passed to her from her Mom. I can only imagine how many Christmas’s this ornament has seen.
Wood ornaments that were cut out for me by my sister and her husband about 10 years ago.
I didn’t think they were from that long ago until I saw a picture with them and saw a picture of how small my daughter was in front of the tree with these ornaments on it.

A more recent ornament, a gift from another sister.
I picked up these light reflectors years ago and never really knew what to do with them.
This year I decided if I didn’t use my Christmas decorations I would donate them to a local thrift store. I knew I wanted to keep these so I decided to use them on the tree since they went with my silver theme.

What type or ornaments do you have on your tree?
Traditional ornaments you’ve had for years or ornaments that you’ve recently purchased?
Do you change your tree up every year or decorate it the same every year?

I used to do a themed tree but gave it up. Now it's Disney and homemade and glass bulbs and whatever else we've gathered over the years. I do like the two tree idea where one can be themed and the other can be the more personal ornaments. Both are beautiful!
