Love is on the table

Since I had such a good time decorating Christmas cookies with royal icing I’ve been checking out a few blogs and site with decorated cookies.
Yesterday I saw a great tutorial on camouflage decorated cookies on Sweetopia.  I knew I had to try it.  SweetSugarBelle made it look so easy that even a newbie to decorating like me thought I could do it.
Mine first attempt at camouflage cookies didn’t turn out too bad.
Not near as cool as my inspiration but I’m happy with them.

You might say that I think I’m in love with cookie decorating.

I did a little marbling.
Ignore the smush mark on the left.

The sugar cookie recipe I use makes about 18-20 cookies with the cookie cutters I used.  Perfect for a small batch to decorate and eat.

I tried a different decorating technique for these than I did with the Christmas cookies and I think I like this better although I will need to a bit more careful to avoid too many smush marks in the frosting when I move them.
I also added almond extract to the frosting – that was a big hit with my daughter.
She said I should use it every time I make frosting.
I’m sure I will.
These cookies won’t last long at all since a few are missing already.
I guess I’ll just have to make more and practice decorating.
My new love.

I’m sure there are lots of techniques I’ll see that I want to try.

I think its time for a cookie, oh, I mean a healthy snack.
